The 60+ women in the chorus are dedicated to musical excellence in the rich sound of 4 part barbershop harmony. Through teamwork, unity, respect and love we create an atmosphere for growth and personal involvement as we strive to be the most entertaining, best-singing chorus in the world while remaining dedicated to advancing our art form through education and performance.
Our most recent competition accolades include 2022 Champions of Harmony Heartland Region 4 and 2023 International 7th Place Medalist. Other recent awards include Regional Championships in 2020, 2018, 2016, 2014, and 2012, and International Medalists in 2019, 2015, 2013, and 2011.
Competition is not the only mission that Scioto Valley Chorus strives for. We are a strong proponent of musical education programs in Ohio and nationally. These programs include, but are not limited to: Ohio Harmony Xperience (formerly Harmony Camp), Young Women in Harmony, and The Young Singers Foundation, which provides scholarships for vocal music students. Many of our members volunteer yearly at Ohio Harmony Xperience (OHX) and give back to our community and our youth. SVC organizes many fundraising events to benefit our chorus in the form of music education and supporting our youth, as well as reaching out to our community through collections for Dress for Success, Amethyst, and various homeless shelters and other programs our members are passionate about.
To give back to our communities, spread awareness of Sweet Adelines International, and spread the love of 4-part harmony, we love performing on a local level, too. Some of the community events we’ve participated in and performed at in the past include: Ohio Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference, National Anthem Singers for The Columbus Clippers, National Anthem Singers for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Women for Economic and Leadership Development, Columbus Arts Festival, Powell Arts Festival, Worthington Holiday Festival, Holiday Festival at the Ohio Statehouse, our Annual SVC Cabaret, numerous holiday shows, teacher’s conferences, and other community and private company events.
With such a robust performance history fueling us from behind, and with a horizon of new singers just waiting to be found, SVC is poised to be the greatest and most impactful chorus in Central Ohio, and it’s support from you that gives Scioto Valley Chorus this opportunity. We invite you to be a partner in giving the gift of music this #GivingTuesday. With your tax-deductible contribution, you also play a part in promoting the harmonious barbershop sound, a creative and supportive outlet for women, and encouraging the supporting musical education and opportunities for our youth.
